Having to pay for swapitshop

Hi, I have just received a swap I got from swapitshop. The item I bidded for was worth only around £1 but I had won it for 3k (this has been explained below). The swapper must have probably posted it second class or something. Well, anyway my swap was posted on the 4th February by swapitshop and I received a card today. The card said that the item could not be delivered because there is a fee to pay. I now have to pay £1.06 because the sender did not pay the full postage. I have not paid the money yet but my item won't be delivered if I don't. What do I do? Is there a way of getting a refund because the item is not worth as much as the postage?
I won the swap for 3k because the swapper said that he would give me a 4gb memory stick but once he sent the product to swapitshop he told me on msn that he had sent a 32mb card. I have all the conversations with him on msn recorded so will I be able to get a refund?
I don't mind keeping the memory stick to be honest but I do not want to pay £1.06.

You will have to pay the £1.06 mate.

Who is the swapper anyway? so we know who to avoid.

NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THE £1.06

First of all, if the msn conversation was BEFORE you won the swap (and you have a copy of it with dates & times to prove this) then you could try e-mailing it to SwapitShop and see if it gets you anywhere, I think they should refund you the 3k and give the swapper a -4 for it.

As for the £1.06 this will be because the swapper missed of 6p from the forwarding stamps and so Royal Mail have asked you for the cost of postage missing plus a £1 handling fee for them. If you ring SwapitShop and complain then they will offer to refund the money to you in stamps THEN you pay it. Or if you no longer want it and would prefer your 3k back (especially since you are no longer getting the memory stick) then just complain that you were told over msn that what you thought you were receiving wasn't what the swapper sent and tell them you want your swapits back and are not paying the £1.06 and they will refund you the 3k.
