Well I think he does. He's basically undoing everything Bush did... that's a good start.

Lol everyone hates bush because he did nothing at all.

Even in his last few weeks in office, he did nothing to tackle the world economy.

Well I think he will and I cant wait. But i think the main reason for him winning was because he was actually thinking about the people that LIVE in AMERICA. That's the problem with Britain. Nothing like that could ever happen here (Ethnic Minority Prime minister) because we concentrate too much on other countries and not the problems we already have here.

It's actually not true. America get REALLY involved in other countries.. take Iraq for example, or the Vietnam War! All countries do, but I think it's good- better than being selfish. Obama is also considering other countries around the world, especially since the economic recession is affecting so many places. I think we could easily have a black prime minister too, I mean who would have ever thought there would be an African American president? It happened though. Also, don't forget we had a female prime minister BEFORE America had it's first female President.. so be proud to be British.

I see your point, but there are many factors contributing to the "not proud to be british" thing:

> Gordon Brown - possibly a big issue here, with his "contraversial" actions, and doing next to nothing to help the economy.

> The economic crisis - contributes to loads of things in what I call a domino sequence:

Causes:
People who don't work and claim benefit take money from the government
OR
people who take out a mortgage or loan and can't pay it back, the government pays it for them which takes money from the government
OR
the government has to pay for immigrant workers houses, extra education for the ever expanding population etc
OR
The government has to pay for expensive medical care for many patients
OR
The government has to constantly pay out pensions, taking more and more money

::::::::::v:::::::::::
The government has less money: it raises taxes for everyone
::::::::::v:::::::::::
Businesses raise prices to counteract this
::::::::::v:::::::::::
People have to pay out more, making them buy less.
::::::::::v:::::::::::
Businesses have to cut jobs to tackle the loss of business
::::::::::v:::::::::::
Many people become jobless or redundant
::::::::::v:::::::::::

Which makes the economy start to shrink, called a resession

You seem to be forgetting we're not the only ones in an economic recession. Yes some people were being greedy, but why should that affect the whole nation's name? Think of it this way. You are British. Are you then not proud to be who you are?

I'm still not proud to be British. The british are much more stubborn in their thinking and I really do not think that we will have a Black Prime Minister any time soon. I know what you're saying, but I'm talking about how Obama spoke to the people of America and how he has tried to unite them all. Who does that here?? Also, it's not Obama's fault George Bush is so stupid.

How can I be proud to be British when my "fellow british people" dont see me as the same and instead assume that I am a "Paki". I think Britain needs to pull itself together. Its outrageous that people get away with so much. I mean take Prince Harry and Carol Thatcher. Carol Thatcher is now asking for an apology

Sorry I'm ranting on about racism but It's just how I feel, and what I meant by my other post is that one of Obama's main priorities is uniting america, and that is what he has already done. Everyone is talking about the reccesion but other major issues that should be addressed first are pushed to the side.

Edit : Also, do you not think that being so easy on immigration in this country is a big factor? More and more people arriving = more and more conflict between people. The difference with america is that their immigration policies are much stricter, and I think that has made the journey to getting rid of racism speed up.
