Hmm... looks like another process of elimination question 
I don't think its rugby or football - cause it would be phrased "was on the england team" instead of "played for england"
which leaves tennis and cricket... don't think its tennis though, cause mainly women play tennis (no offense, lads) but ill guess at cricket, cause his name sounds cricket-player ish.
