This tutorial makes you learn how to:
> Use basic layers
> Use some easy masks
> Use Text
> Use Filter Effects
OK,
1. Open Photoshop and create a new document -
Width: 400
Height: 150
2. Click the text tool at the toolbar... (It looks like a T )
3. Type in your username (or anything) into the text box. Change it to size 48 (pick a font, I've used Calibri but you can use anything). Embolden it if it looks too thin.
It should now look like this:
4. Click the select/move tool
And drag your mouse over the text and move it so that it is sitting on the centre line.
(Like this)
5. Go To Layer > Rasterize > Type
This makes the text uneditable and turns it into a shape.
6. Go to Layer > Duplicate Layer
Then Click OK when a dialog box comes up.
7. Go to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical.
8. Using the Select/Move tool that we used earlier, drag the text so that its below the layer you duplicated from.
It should now look like this...
9. Click the quick mask tool... (It is the right of the two buttons - the unselected one).
10. Then Click the gradient tool...
11. Whilst holding down the shift key on your keyboard, drag up from the bottom of the document to where the texts meet in the centre. You should get this...
12. Then click the "Edit in standard mode" button, which is next to the quick mask button (on the left).
13. Then go to Select > Inverse
14. Then hit the "Delete" key on your keyboard repeatedly until you see the bottom of the text disappear. (Only do this about 3 - 5 times!!!)
You should now see this...
Good But not good enough!
15. Go to the layers panel at the far right of the screen...
Change the opacity to about 40 - 70% Depending on how you like it.
And you're done!
You can make some final adjustments like moving the duplicated layer by using the select/move tool that we used before to meet the bottom of the real text layer. _________________ Apollogies for my absence recently. I'm inundated with coursework, homework and revision so I can't be on here as much as I used to. Don't worry, I'll be back to how I used to be in a while.
